KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 24 (Bernama) -- The Consulate General of Malaysia in Hong Kong and Macao has urged Malaysians residing in or travelling to the regions to remain indoors and exercise extreme caution as Super Typhoon Ragasa batters the region.
In a post made on its official Facebook page on Saturday, the consulate said, following the highest Tropical Cyclone Signal No. 10 at 2.40 am (local time), followed by an Amber Rainstorm Warning Signal Special Announcement at 2.45 am (local time) in the regions.
“The warnings are expected to remain in force for some time,” it read.
The consulate also strongly advised its citizens to take necessary precautions, including finding a safe place to stay indoors during the T8 (or higher) tropical cyclone signals, stocking up on food and essential supplies, and avoiding shorelines.
Malaysians were also reminded to contact their airlines for updates on flight schedules, while those requiring urgent medical attention were advised to call the emergency line at 999 and notify the consulate via email at mwhongkong@kln.gov.my or contact them via WhatsApp at +852-6900-6390.
The consulate further encouraged Malaysians to follow local safety guidelines and stay updated with advisories from the respective observatories issued by the Hong Kong Observatory (https://www.hko.gov.hk/en/index.html) and the Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (https://www.smg.gov.mo/en).
