KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 22 (Bernama) -- The government’s decision to reduce the price of RON95 petrol to RM1.99 a litre through targeted subsidies from Sept 30 has been described as a meaningful gift that reflects the MADANI administration’s courage and commitment to reduce living costs amidst an uncertain global economy.
Malaysians took to social media to express their gratitude and appreciation to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim following his announcement that all Malaysians would be eligible to purchase RON95 petrol at a subsidised price for up to 300 litres per person a month under the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) programme.
An X user @KtyStk63561 described the announcement as a huge move towards making life easier for the people, especially in the current uncertain times.
“PMX’s initiative proves that he listens to the needs of the rakyat. Terima kasih PMX for always putting the rakyat first!” they posted, while Facebook user Norman Daud viewed the decision as a balanced approach in helping Malaysians who are facing economic pressures and ensuring subsidies are channelled to those who are eligible.
“In brief, the people get cheap prices, e-hailing drivers won’t be stressed, and subsidies will really reach Malaysians. Smile a bit while filling up after this, RM1.99 a litre is really cheap compared to other countries,” he posted.
Another X user, @Dewysafiya expressed her pride as the initiative prioritised benefitting frontliners and Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) cash aid recipients.
“Immensely proud to see the MADANI government prioritise police, the armed forces and STR recipients. It feels like their sacrifices are valued. Good Move PMX,” they posted, while fellow X user @ssyazaa4 declared that the decision was a huge win for Malaysians and proved the government’s determination to raise their standard of living.
“Well done PMX! This is a big win for Malaysians and shows true dedication to improving the economy and the lives of every citizen. Let’s continue to work together towards a better Malaysia!” they wrote.
