TELUK INTAN, Sept 20 (Bernama) -- Perak police are conducting, and will continue to conduct, a series of intensive training programmes for officers and personnel tasked with safeguarding the state’s royalty and leaders, to enhance their operational readiness while on duty.
State police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin said the move is part of efforts to strengthen and streamline security measures for the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, to prevent any recurrence of undesirable incidents.
“The UTK ( Special Actions Unit) has also reinforced security for His Royal Highness Sultan Nazrin Shah.
“At the same time, we have opened recruitment for new escort officers for His Royal Highness the Sultan of Perak, as part of efforts to streamline and strengthen security arrangements,” he said.
He said this after officiating at the closing ceremony of the ‘Ter..Paling Pahlawan Challenge 2025’ organised by the Hilir Perak district police headquarters at Padang Speedy here today.
Previously, the media reported a high-profile incident where a woman attempted to attack Sultan Nazrin when he was standing to receive a salute while the Perak state anthem was being played during the state-level National Day celebration on Aug 31.
The 41-year-old woman, who was reported to have a history of psychiatric treatment, was detained and charged in the Ipoh Magistrate's Court on Sept 8 under Section 352 of the Penal Code (for attempting to cause grievous bodily harm).
