KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 6 (Bernama) -- Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) respects the decision of Barisan Nasional (BN) and UMNO not to work with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) to face the upcoming 17th Sabah state election.
Amanah deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa said the party prioritises political stability and unity in the Unity Government and the Sabah state election must focus on the interests of the people, not politics alone.
“In any situation, Amanah sees the best thing we can do is to deliberate together, to find the best consensus,” he said in a press conference before officiating the Federal Territories Amanah Convention in Bandar Tun Razak here today.
Yesterday, BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also UMNO president, said UMNO and BN Sabah would not work with GRS, but would remain in partnership with Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the Sabah state election.
Apart from that, Mujahid said the party aims to contest in five state seats in the 17th state election.
The 16th Sabah State Legislative Assembly will automatically be dissolved on Nov 11 if it is not dissolved earlier, to pave the way for the 17th state election.
