KUCHING, Sept 5 (Bernama) -- The construction of classrooms, dormitory and other facilities at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Engkilili, Lubok Antu, is expected to be completed by February 2026.
The Works Ministry, in a statement today, said the project, which began in May 2023, is currently on schedule at 61 per cent progress.
It said that the school has 1,068 students, from Form One to Form Six, taught by 89 teachers.
“The main objective of this project is to provide a new, modern building equipped with comfortable and conducive facilities and infrastructure.
“The project, worth approximately RM22.5 million, involves the construction of an academic building with six classrooms, a dormitory that can accommodate 200 students, as well as the installation of electricity supply, a pump house, a water tank, and several other facilities,” the ministry said.
Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan reviewed the progress of the project today.
“The efforts of leaders to visit construction sites are routine and part of the Works Ministry’s culture to ensure projects are completed on schedule and to resolve on-site issues that could affect project management and progress,” he said.
