KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 28 (Bernama) -- Malaysia contributes about 17 to 20 per cent to IHH Healthcare’s overall revenue, its group chief financial officer Dilip Kadambi said.
He said Malaysia is the company’s third-largest market after Singapore and Türkiye/Eastern Europe, reflecting the country’s strong contribution to the group’s overall performance.
“We see robust growth in Malaysia’s healthcare needs as the market shifts from being dominated by inpatient care to a mix of primary, ambulatory and inpatient services.
“This transition will support long-term growth, particularly as the population grows and incomes rise,” he said at a media conference after the IHH rebrand launch here, today.
Group chief executive officer Dr Prem Kumar Nair echoed Dilip’s remarks, saying Malaysia remains competitive in the region with its cost-effective healthcare services attracting more foreign patients.
“Several senior doctors, including from the public sector, pointed out during our panel discussions that Malaysia’s healthcare is very cost effective.
"This is one reason why Malaysia is now a preferred medical travel destination, attracting patients who might previously have gone to Singapore or Thailand," he said.
He noted that private healthcare cannot depend on continuously raising prices, emphasising that cost control must instead involves measures such as bundled packages, ambulatory procedures and group-level procurement of medical equipment.
"Group procurement allows us to negotiate better prices for equipment such as magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography scan and radiotherapy machines," he said.
Earlier today, IHH unveiled a new corporate identity aimed at unifying its hospital network and reinforcing its position in the healthcare sector. It also introduced a new tagline, “Care. For Good” to reflect its renewed direction.
In conjunction with the rebranding, IHH hosted its inaugural FutureHealth. Now leadership conference, which brought together over 300 leaders from the healthcare, government, and business sectors to explore the future of healthcare.
