KOTA BHARU, Aug 28 (Bernama) -- The Kota Bharu Islamic City Municipal Council (MPKB-BRI) has warned that action will be taken against premises found selling vape products.
Its president, Azi Rahimee Mohamad, said no business licences have been issued for the sale of such products since 2013, and enforcement will be carried out in line with the state government’s stance.
“For individual use, MPKB-BRI has no authority as it falls under the jurisdiction of the Health Department, similar to enforcement on smoking in designated areas,” he told Bernama after officiating at the council’s National Month Appreciation Ceremony at Dataran Bandaraya here last night.
He said MPKB-BRI, through its Licensing and Enforcement divisions, will continue regular operations to curb unlicensed sales.
“Premises repeatedly caught selling vape will face stern action, including licence revocation and closure.
“We are aware that illegal sales still occur, especially through online platforms, which operate outside the jurisdiction of local authorities,“ he added.
