MERSING, Aug 27 (Bernama) -- Twenty media practitioners from various agencies in the federal capital had the opportunity to experience the unique hospitality of Felda Residence Tanjung Leman (FRTL) through a media tour programme organised by Felda Investment Corporation (FIC) Hospitality Sdn Bhd.
Head of Integrated Marketing Communications at FIC Hospitality Sdn Bhd, W. Nurrul Sarah W. Rusdi, said the programme was designed to highlight the resort’s tourism offerings, including accommodation, facilities, and a wide range of activities.
“The main purpose of this media tour is to give our media friends first-hand experience of travelling here, exploring the activities available, and enjoying the services offered at our resort,” she told Bernama today.
FIC Hospitality, a subsidiary of Felda, manages FRTL as well as the Felda Residence network across Malaysia.
The three-day tour, which began on Aug 25, was joined by representatives from the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama), Utusan Malaysia, Majoriti, and IKIM TV and Radio.
According to Nurrul Sarah, one of FRTL’s main attractions is its proximity to nearby islands such as Pulau Kukus and Pulau Tinggi—often described as ‘hidden gems’. These islands are ideal for island hopping, snorkelling, hiking, as well as group activity packages that include water sports and team-building programmes.
She said tourists can reach the islands by boats provided by the resort, with travel times ranging between 15 and 20 minutes.
“The islands around Tanjung Leman each have their own uniqueness compared to other tourist destinations. We want the public to know that this area offers a different kind of experience.
“At the same time, it provides a platform for media representatives to share their experiences with the public about the special features of this resort and the variety of activities here, many of which may not be available at other hotels or resorts,” she said.
Nurrul Sarah added that many people are still unaware of the resort, often assuming it caters exclusively to Felda residents, when in fact it is open to the public and warmly welcomes visitors from outside.
Meanwhile, FRTL manager Azlinita Tumin said that the resort initially functioned as a Felda training centre when it first opened in 2010, before gradually expanding into a popular holiday destination for families, corporate groups, and event organisers.
“Market demand has been growing for family days, meetings, school programmes, and recreational activities. In response, we have expanded our packages and upgraded facilities to make this resort a preferred choice for tourists,” she said.
She said the resort has 91 accommodation rooms with a capacity of 336 beds and is equipped with various facilities, including a cafe, ballroom, karaoke, mini cinema and group activity facilities.
“Apart from island hopping and snorkelling, other popular packages are barbecue, family sports, as well as honeymoon and wedding anniversary packages,” she added.
FRTL offers various accommodation facilities, tour packages and leisure activities to attract more domestic and international tourists, especially to the Mersing district, which is famous as the gateway to the resort islands in Johor.
