KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 25 (Bernama) -- Malaysia has never wavered in defending the rights of the Palestinian people, even as much of the world, despite its rhetoric on human rights and democracy, chooses to turn away, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Anwar stressed that in every international engagement, whether in Tokyo, Beijing, New Delhi or Europe, he never fails to raise the plight of those suffering in Gaza.
“For decades, Palestinian land has been seized, homes destroyed, schools demolished, and even mosques and churches have not been spared from Zionist aggression. What is happening in Gaza today is not merely war, but the harshest and most inhumane form of occupation.
“This is not the act of humans, it is the act of animals! Everything has been taken, land, homes, families, lives,” he said in a Facebook post today.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed that Malaysia will continue to step up support for Gaza and the struggle for Palestinian liberation.
“Malaysia, together with international partners, continues to provide aid, from medical treatment to education opportunities. Last night, the MADANI Government announced an additional RM100 million allocation for the Palestinian people.
“We know this struggle can sometimes feel exhausting, even hopeless. But Allah’s promise is clear. HIS help is near. We must continue to believe and move forward with courage and conviction. Rest assured, truth and justice will prevail,” he said.
The Prime Minister added that the Malam Himpunan dan Selawat Malaysiaku Bersama Gaza gathering, which drew thousands of participants, showed that Malaysians stand united in rejecting oppression, condemning the killing of children and women, and demanding justice long denied to the Palestinian people, while the global order fails to guarantee their basic rights.
“Remember, the voices that rang out tonight (last night) are not of any party or race, but the voices of Malaysians demanding justice. Do not let division weaken us.
“To our brothers and sisters in Gaza and Palestine, know that we will never abandon you. We draw strength from your spirit, and we honour and uphold your struggle. Allah willing, we will stand firmly with you, always,” he said.
