KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 24 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisation (MAPIM) has outlined seven main determinations to ensure Malaysia remains a strong voice in the world in fighting for Palestinian freedom, especially in relation to the ongoing attacks on Gaza.

Its chief executive officer, Datuk Dr Ahmad Sani Araby Al-Kahery said Malaysia needs to continue to speak out against the humanitarian crimes, including the killing of children, women and civilians, attacks on hospitals and schools, and to demand full protection for humanitarian institutions in the region.

“Malaysia cannot remain quiet as long as these crimes continue. We support and urge Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to remain strong and brave in defending Gaza and Palestine until it achieves independence,” he said when presenting the Sumud Nusantara Declaration at the “Malam Himpunan dan Selawat - Malaysiaku Bersama Gaza”, in conjunction with the Sumud Nusantara Carnival 2025, at Dataran Merdeka today.

The Prime Minister also attended the highlight of the carnival and delivered a special solidarity lecture titled "Malaysiaku Bersama Gaza".

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa and Sumud Nusantara director-general and Cinta Gaza Malaysia Muhammad chief executive officer Nadir Al-Nuri Kamaruzaman were also present at the event.

In the declaration, Ahmad Sani insisted that Malaysia would not normalise relations or compromise with the Zionist regime and rejected all efforts to legalise colonisation.

“We demand that the war be stopped immediately and the world humanitarian corridor access be opened unconditionally. We demand a permanent ceasefire and a stop to the brutal killing of Palestinians,” he said.

In addition, the starvation of the people in Gaza must end immediately he said, and hoped that Malaysians and the people in Nusantara countries would continue to channel aid.

“Faced with various challenges, aid from Malaysians won’t be cut off. We will continue to provide assistance to our brothers in Gaza,” he said.

Ahmad Sani said that through the declaration, Malaysia strongly condemned the killing of 283 journalists in Gaza, which it described as crimes against press freedom, and reminded local media to remain strong in spreading the truth and champion Palestine through knowledge, understanding and solidarity.

“Malaysia must be an important point in defending Gaza,” he said, adding that Malaysians need to remain united in supporting Palestine.

“Armed with prayers, we stand together with Gaza until Palestine achieves true independence. This is the Sumud Nusantara Declaration, we are strong, we won’t waver and we will continue to stand till Gaza is free,” he added.
