Negeri Sembilan PMR : Visitors Get Hands-on With Real Weapons At Defence Ministry Booth

23/08/2025 08:27 PM

NILAI, Aug 23 (Bernama) -- Visitors of all ages, from children to teenagers, got a taste of a hands-on soldier experience as they held real weapons on display at the Defence Ministry’s booth during the Negeri Sembilan MADANI Rakyat Programme (PMR) 2025 here.

Amirul Hakim Yusaini Amer, 21, was thrilled to hold a machine gun for the first time and said he was impressed by how effortlessly national security officers handle the weapon, which weighs over 10 kilogrammes, in the course of their duties.

“Being a fan of action films, I usually watch them on the big screen, but today I experienced holding a real weapon and learning about its functions and safety,” he told Bernama.

Dayang Anisah Syafiah Wasli, 24, described the participation of government agencies such as the Defence Ministry in the programme as an excellent initiative to bring the public closer to the national security forces and provide visitors with a better understanding of key aspects of national security.

“I’m used to lifting heavy things, but this weapon was heavier than I expected. I’ve always been interested in military action, and having the chance to hold a real weapon today is incredibly exciting,” she said.

Meanwhile, Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) shooter Mohd Rashiden Rahman said the objective of the exhibition was to bring the MAF closer to the community while giving visitors a glimpse of military careers.

He added that since yesterday, visitors have been eagerly trying their hand at holding and posing with the weapons on display at the security exhibition booth.

“We brought both heavy and light rifles for display, including the MGKA at 11 kg. It’s not the full set; the complete version would weigh 32 kg. This exhibition allows us to share a bit of military experience with the public,” he said.

The Negeri Sembilan PMR, which opened to the public yesterday, features various activities highlighting digitalisation in efforts to bring government agencies closer to the people.

Carrying the theme ‘Digital Merentasi Generasi, Memperkasa Komuniti’ (Digital Across Generations, Empowering Communities), the programme is spearheaded by the Digital Ministry in collaboration with the Prime Minister’s Office through the Performance Acceleration Coordination Unit and the Negeri Sembilan government as host.
