2,000 Quran Copies Replaced In N.Sembilan Since 2023

NILAI, Aug 22 (Bernama) -- The Home Ministry has estimated that about 2,000 copies of the Quran in Negeri Sembilan have been replaced since 2023, either due to the absence of certification from the ministry or because they were damaged.

Head of the Control Section of the Enforcement and Control Division, Negeri Sembilan KDN, Ariff Hussein Malham, stated that the replacement process also involved copies contributed by residents, mosques, surau, and schools.

“…we want Malaysians to prioritise using Quran copies that are certified and thoroughly reviewed by KDN’s Lajnah Tasheh al-Quran (a committee tasked with checking and reviewing Quran copies) to ensure their accuracy, so that the public can read and own certified Quran copies, ensuring their recitation is accurate,” he told Bernama when met at the Negeri Sembilan MADANI Rakyat programme (PMR) in Dataran Nilai, here today.

He said there are more than 1,000 types of Quran copies approved by the ministry.

Meanwhile, Ariff Hussein urged the public to hand in uncertified or damaged Quran copies in exchange for certified ones at KDN’s booth at the event.

He said the ‘Jom Exchange Al-Quran’ initiative aims to collect and dispose of damaged or uncertified Quran copies in the most honourable way, in line with the established guidelines.

Themed “Digital Merentasi Generasi, Memperkasa Komuniti”, the three-day Negeri Sembilan PMR kicked off today. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to officiate the event tomorrow.
