SEPANG, Aug 13 (Bernama) -- Patriotic and traditional tunes, accompanied by captivating cultural performances, filled Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 today during the PENTARAMA MERDEKA@KLIA programme organised by the Information Department (JAPEN).
The programme, held in collaboration with Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB), was organised in conjunction with National Day and Malaysia Day 2025 (HKHM 2025), with a focus on showcasing patriotism through casual performances.
PENTARAMA MERDEKA@KLIA also featured cultural dance performances and an interactive session with visitors, including a patriotism-themed quiz.
JAPEN director-general Julina Johan said hosting the programme at the country’s main gateway allowed both locals and foreign visitors to experience Malaysian culture and witness the spirit of patriotism among its people.
“The approach this time is quite different. We are not only presenting patriotic songs but also highlighting Malaysia’s cultural elements.
“We have (traditional) songs from Pahang, Perak and Perlis…we are giving them a new lease of life as we want to introduce them to visitors at KLIA Terminal 1,” she told Bernama here today.
Also present were KLIA Terminal 1 operations general manager Abdul Hasman Abdul Muhimim and JAPEN Communications and Community Development Service Division director Muhammad Najmi Mustapha.
Julina said PENTARAMA MERDEKA@KLIA also served as a platform to showcase Malaysia’s identity and national spirit to the world.
“Those visiting Malaysia for the first time can discover the nation’s cultural diversity, not only in its food and attire but also in its music and traditions,” she said.
She said the programme had received an encouraging response from all quarters, with its final event scheduled to be held at KLIA Terminal 2 on Aug 21.
Meanwhile, Julina said the PENTARAMA MERDEKA@HOHO programme would be held in Perak as part of efforts to enliven HKHM 2025 through a casual approach.
