SHAH ALAM, Aug 11 (Bernama) -- Bidding for the ‘SIS’ special vehicle registration number series, short for Sultan Idris Shah, in honour of Selangor ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, will be open to the public from Aug 15 to Aug 19.
In a statement via Facebook today, the Selangor Royal Office said the auction is held in conjunction with the Sultan’s upcoming 80th birthday in December and his Silver Jubilee in 2026.
The Transport Ministry, via the Road Transport Department (JPJ), will conduct the online bidding via the JPJeBid system, with results to be announced on Aug 20.
Bidding will be subject to JPJ’s existing terms and minimum prices. The department will be the sole authority handling the sale, with no third-party involvement.
Proceeds from the auction will partly go to a royal foundation under the Sultan’s patronage, supporting charitable efforts such as scholarships and emergency aid.
The foundation will be chaired by Selangor Royal Council member and former Bank Negara governor Tan Sri Muhammad Ibrahim, ensuring transparent governance.
Meanwhile, JPJ said a statement reminded bidders that any acquired registration number must be assigned to a vehicle within 12 months of the official results letter being issued.
