SADC To Set Up Large-Scale Ehsan Dairy Farm To Boost Local Dairy Production

KUALA KUBU BHARU, Aug 10 (Bernama) -- The Selangor Agriculture Development Corporation (SADC) will set up a large scale dairy complex, Ehsan Dairy Farm, which is expected to begin operations early next year.

Its group chief executive officer, Datuk Dr Mohamad Khairil Mohamad Razi said the project is aimed at boosting local dairy production and to reduce dependence on foreign imports and raise the national dairy self-sufficiency rate from 5.3 per cent.

The complex, located at the 42-acre Sungai Tengi SADC Farm here, will house over 1,200 Jersey-Holstein Friesian (F2) dairy cows to produce 1.8 million litres (l) of fresh milk a year with an annual income of over RM7.5 million and create over 100 jobs directly and indirectly.

“It will integrate smart farm management technology, automation, digital animal health systems, support the development of downstream agro-industry ecosystems including processing, packaging and marketing of local dairy,” he said during his speech at the groundbreaking ceremony here today, witnessed by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

The project, a vital component of the Selangor Food Security Action Framework 2021-2025, is also categorised as a national strategic initiative in line with the Federal Government’s efforts to modernise the agro-food sector and boost the efficiency of the domestic food supply chain,  he added.

“With close cooperation between the Selangor state government, the federal government and implementing agencies such as SADC, Ehsan Dairy Farm is expected to be a model for the country’s main modern dairy farms.

“It reflects the long-term commitment towards the preparation of healthy diet, reducing dependence on imports and the preservation of national food sovereignty,” Mohamad Khairil said

Ehsan Dairy Farm will be equipped with modern facilities that support large-scale systematic breeding operations, including the Swing Over Rapid Exit system capable of milking 60 cows simultaneously, and Dairymaster technology such as the Neck Collar (Moomonitor) that identifies cows in heat when their movement exceeds an activity threshold.

SADC is a Selangor state government company responsible for driving the state’s agriculture and agro-food sectors in line with the Selangor people’s socioeconomic development through various commercial projects and high-impact corporate social responsibility initiatives.
