Perak KPDN Seizes Diesel, Assets Worth Over RM132,000 In Kampung Kepayang

IPOH, Aug 9 (Bernama) -- The Perak branch of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) seized 1,220 litres of subsidised diesel fuel as well as assets worth RM132,446.80 in a raid on a workshop in Kampung Kepayang here yesterday.

Its director, Datuk Kamalludin Ismail said the raid, conducted at about 6.10 pm, also saw the arrest of a local man, aged 21, believed to have failed to produce any permits or licences for storing the controlled items.

“The syndicate’s modus operandi was to obtain the diesel fuel at RM1.80 a litre from dishonest lorry drivers, who steal supplies belonging to the company, before selling it to industrial parties on the black market at RM2.40 per litre

“The raid also involved two lorries, an Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC) tank, and a pump at the workshop," he said in a statement today.

Kamalludin said the case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961 because the suspect is believed to have committed an offence of possessing or storing scheduled controlled goods, namely diesel fuel, without written permission from KPDN.

He also said his team will not compromise with any individual involved in the misappropriation of controlled goods and would continue to take firm action through the Kita Gempur initiative to prevent the leakage of government subsidies.
