KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 2 (Bernama) -- Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil expressed sadness over the death of composer and musician Roslan Ariffin Jamil, better known as Ross Ariffin, today.

He said the news of his passing was conveyed by Rumah Seri Kenangan Cheras, where he had been residing since November last year.

“Uncle Ross was a composer who contributed greatly to the local music industry,” he said in a Facebook post.

Fahmi also shared that he had met the late composer on several occasions and described him as a resilient individual despite the many challenges he faced in life.

“He faced a difficult life but remained strong in his journey as an artist. May his soul be showered with blessings and placed among the righteous,” he said.

Roslan passed away at 5.30 pm. He was 63.

The burial is expected to take place tomorrow morning.

Previously, Bernama reported that Roslan’s plight had caught Fahmi’s attention, prompting the minister to extend assistance, including helping him secure housing under the People's Housing Project (PPR).

The late composer had written songs for several popular local artistes, including Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza, Ning Baizura, Jaclyn Victor and Fauziah Latiff.
