KANGAR, Oct 4 (Bernama) -- The successful release of 23 Malaysians in the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) mission who were detained by the Zionist regime since Thursday demonstrated Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s firm, principled, and prudent diplomatic approach, said Perlis Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) chief Azzin Izzad Bahanudin.
He said the achievement has elevated Malaysia’s standing on the international stage as a nation consistently defending human rights and upholding universal humanitarian principles without compromising its dignity or national values.
“Perlis AMK extends its highest appreciation and congratulations to the Prime Minister for securing the release of the 23 Malaysians detained by the Zionist regime.
“Perlis AMK will continue to stand firmly with the Prime Minister’s leadership in his efforts to champion justice, peace, and sovereignty for Malaysians as well as the international community,” he said in a statement today.
Azzin Izzad said Perlis AMK believes the diplomatic breakthrough not only brought relief to the families involved but also reinforced public confidence in Malaysia’s leadership as courageous and authoritative in facing global challenges.
He said Perlis AMK strongly condemned the actions of the Zionist regime for detaining Malaysians without legal grounds, saying that the action clearly violated international law.
All the 23 Malaysian activists arrived safely at Istanbul International Airport at 8.40 pm Malaysian time after departing on a special Turkish government aircraft from Ramon Airport, Israel.
They had been detained by Israeli forces after their GSF vessels were intercepted in the Red Zone waters of the Mediterranean Sea and taken to Ashdod Port, Israel.
Among those detained were singer Heliza Helmi and her sister, Nur Hazwani Afiqah (aboard Hio); Nurfarahin Romli (Farah Lee) and Danish Nazran Murad (Grande Blu); singer Zizi Kirana (Huga); Musa Nuwayri, Iylia Balqis and Sul Aidil (Alma); Haikal Abdullah, Muaz Zainal, Zulfadhli Khiruddin and Rusydi Ramli (Sirius).
Also detained were Razali Awang (Inana); influencer Nurul Hidayah Mohd Amin, better known as Ardell Aryana (Mikeno); PU Rahmat, Norhelmi Ab Ghani, Mohd Asmawi Mukhtar, and Norazman Ishak (Estrella); Zainal Rashid and Ustaz Muhammad Abdullah (Fair Lady); as well as Muhammad Hareez Adzrami, better known as Haroqs, Muhd Haikal Luqman Zulkefli, and Taufiq Mohd Razif (Free Willy).
The GSF mission, participated by more than 500 activists from 45 countries, sailed towards Gaza as a show of solidarity and to break the Israeli blockade in an attempt to deliver humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.
