Repatriation Of 23 Malaysian GSF Volunteers From Ashdod Expected In 48 Hours – SNCC

SEPANG, Oct 3 (Bernama) -- All 23 Malaysian participants of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF), currently detained by Israeli authorities, are expected to be flown out of Ashdod within 48 hours, according to the Sumud Nusantara Command Centre (SNCC).

SNCC director-general Datuk Dr Sani Araby Abdul Alim Araby said the development follows ongoing diplomatic efforts led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also the patron of Sumud Nusantara, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

“With the involvement of the Prime Minister and the President of Turkiye, we expect the repatriation from Ashdod to take place within the next 48 hours,” he told a press conference here today.

He said diplomatic negotiations are being conducted at the highest level, involving leaders from Turkiye, Qatar, the United States and other strategic partners to secure the Malaysians’ release.

“InsyaAllah, we will welcome them home soon, possibly via Ankara or Istanbul,” he said, adding that the Turkish government will lead the repatriation effort.

Sani said Anwar personally informed him of the progress at 8.10 am today, reaffirming his full commitment to the matter.

“He has not only pledged full support but also confirmed that efforts are underway. The Prime Minister has repeatedly contacted President Erdogan, the Emir of Qatar and officials from the United States,” he said.

He added that Anwar will personally oversee the process, with direct support from Turkiye and active involvement from Malaysia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA).

Sani said Malaysia and Turkiye are expected to be among the first countries to bring home their citizens following their detention by Israeli authorities.

He also urged Malaysians to continue praying for the safe return of the volunteers and to stay focused on the mission’s objectives, calling for an end to the war, alleviation of starvation and opening humanitarian corridors to allow the delivery of aid.

“InsyaAllah, with continued support and prayers, we can ensure the participants’ safety and sustain the struggle for Palestine,” he said.

The GSF mission involved more than 500 activists from 44 countries, including Malaysia, sailing toward Gaza in a symbolic act of solidarity aimed at breaking the Israeli blockade and delivering essential aid to Palestinians affected by ongoing attacks.

MOFA earlier confirmed that Israeli forces detained all 23 Malaysians aboard the flotilla and will be repatriated via a third country.
