NILAI, Oct 3 (Bernama) -- The National Education Council (MPN), expected to be established this year, is hoped to shed new light on strengthening and advancing the country’s education system, especially in addressing challenges brought about by artificial intelligence (AI).
Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir said the global education landscape is changing rapidly, with many countries rethinking their approaches in response to the rise of AI.
“AI may be viewed as just a tool, but it has already created a new world perspective on education.
“For example, China recently unveiled a new blueprint to overhaul its education system in preparation for future challenges linked to AI,” he said after launching the national-level Academia Day and Month 2025 celebration, themed AI Integration in Higher Education, at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) today.
Zambry said that a meeting was held this morning to discuss the formation of the MPN, involving the Education Ministry and related ministries, chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He said the meeting focused on improving coordination in education, including creating clusters to allow ministries to jointly plan relevant programmes.
Earlier, Zambry launched USIM’s AI Syariah Framework, an ethical AI ecosystem developed based on Islamic knowledge disciplines and Maqasid Syariah, under the supervision of qualified experts.
“This is a good initiative, and as we know, in the field of AI, guidance and ethics are crucial. In USIM’s context, they are approaching it from the syariah perspective. I hope it can be developed effectively,” he added.
