SURABAYA, Sept 26 (Bernama) -- Tourism Malaysia and the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) are jointly hosting Malaysia Fair 2025, a four-day event showcasing the country as a top destination for leisure and medical tourism ahead of Visit Malaysia 2026.

Taking place at Pakuwon Mall until Sunday (Sept 28), the fair marks the first collaboration between Tourism Malaysia and MHTC, aimed at boosting Visit Malaysia 2026 and the Malaysia Year of Medical Tourism 2026.

In a joint statement, the organisers described the fair as a showcase of Malaysia’s culture, cuisine, tourism, and healthcare, offering holiday packages, medical services, and cultural attractions under one roof.

Held in Surabaya for the fifth time, MHTC is bringing its world-class healthcare and wellness showcases to the city, featuring Malaysia’s most awarded healthcare facilities and integrated care packages.

Participants include Institut Jantung Negara (IJN), Island Hospital, Mahkota Medical Centre, Alpha IVF & Women’s Specialists, KPJ Healthcare, Prince Court Medical Centre and Sunway Medical Centre.

Cultural highlights include traditional dance performances, family-friendly activities such as quizzes and Teh Tarik demonstrations.

Education opportunities are also being presented by Todak Academy, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), UCSI University, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), alongside travel promotions.

Marriott International is adding a culinary highlight to the programme with a Malaysian Food Promotion at Magnolia Restaurant, The Westin Surabaya, until Sunday.

Signature dishes prepared by a guest chef from Penang Marriott Hotel aim to introduce Indonesian diners to Malaysia’s diverse gastronomy.

“Food is part of our identity, and gastronomy is a strong selling point to promote our country,” said Tourism Malaysia Jakarta director Hairi Mohd Yakzan.

He said the agency is also working with Indonesian media, influencers and content creators to highlight both established attractions and hidden gems.

MHTC Marketing and Communications vice president Lokman Izam Abd Aziz added: “Through our tagline, Healing Meets Hospitality, we are excited to showcase Malaysia as a destination to heal your mind, body and soul, supported by both medical and tourism experiences.”

With its cultural diversity, cuisine, landscapes and wide-ranging tourism products, Malaysia continues to position itself as a preferred destination for Indonesian travellers, the organisers added.
