MAIPk Allocates RM5.5 Million For Asnaf Empowerment Programmes

IPOH, Aug 5 (Bernama) -- The Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk) has allocated RM5.5 million this year to implement the Asnaf Economic Empowerment Programme (Proper A) and the Asnaf Entrepreneur Umbrella Programme (UPAYA).

Its chief executive officer Syamsul Hazeman Md Salleh, said Proper A this year introduces a more dynamic approach with four key entrepreneurial sectors: mobile smartphone repair, mobile hairdressing services, a coffee franchise, and the Roti Kaya Junus franchise.

Each Proper A participant will receive financial support ranging from RM8,000 to RM14,000, depending on their business type, along with entrepreneurship training and courses.

"Through the mobile business concept, participants receive a motorcycle and business kit, while those in franchises benefit from full support from established brands, simplifying marketing and operations.

“Participants will be monitored for three to six months to ensure effective use of the support provided," he told reporters after the launch of UPAYA here today.

To date, MAIPk has assisted 60 asnaf participants in the food sector through UPAYA, offering them equipment, training, ongoing monitoring, and guidance.

"This initiative aims to uplift small-scale entrepreneurs and help them overcome financial challenges, ultimately enabling them to achieve higher incomes for their families," he said.

He hopes the assistance will lead to meaningful change, helping participants break free from poverty and improve their lives.
