Programme Helps Build Character Of Primary Pupils To Face Challenges Of Digital World

ARAU, Aug 5 (Bernama) -- The Perlis Education Department (JPN) has described the organisation of the 2025 My Idols Character & Safe Internet Campaign (K.I.S) programme as a proactive measure in building the character and leadership of primary school pupils to face the challenges of the digital world.

Perlis JPN deputy director of Education (Learning Sector) Mohd Nazri Baharin said the programme can strengthen aspects related to character, discipline and responsibility among Year Two pupils, who are now increasingly exposed to influences in a world without borders.

"This programme is implemented through the strategic collaboration between the Perlis JPN, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) and several other agencies,” he told reporters at the programme's closing ceremony at UniMAP here today.

Also present were MCMC Northern Region senior director Izani Othman, as well as strategic partner representatives from UniMAP, who contributed their expertise in making the programme a success.

Mohd Nazri said the approach adopted under the programme combined the building of character and digital literacy so that pupils are balanced in terms of morals and technical knowledge.

He added that through such programmes, teachers also played a key role in educating pupils to be smart in managing internet use and become individuals who are responsible for themselves and their community.

He said the MCMC completed the K.I.S for primary schools in Perlis, with 74 primary schools statewide involved in the programme, which was participated by 222 teachers and over 500 Year Two pupils selected randomly.
