Police Seek Public Help To Find Man Missing At Bukit Tabur

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 4 (Bernama) -- Police are appealing for the public's help to locate a 43-year-old man with a mental disability who was reported missing on Aug 1.

Ampang Jaya police chief ACP Mohd Azam Ismail said police received a report on the disappearance of the victim, Norhafsham Nazri, 43, from his father on Aug 2 at 1.04 pm.

"The complainant stated that he had sent his son to Kampung Warisan Taman Melawati on Aug 1 at about 2.30 pm, however his son did not return home by 9.30 pm and a search failed to locate him," he said in a statement today.

Mohd Azam said the victim was certified as mentally disabled since 2022 and was last seen wearing a black-and-red round-neck t-shirt, dark jeans, sports shoes and carrying a black backpack.

The initial search mounted on Aug 2 found a similar backpack believed to belong to the victim on the trail leading to Bukit Tabur in Taman Melawati and the search operation, now entering its fourth day, is focused around the Bukit Tabur trail and the Hulu Sungai Klang area.

Among parties involved in the search are the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Zone 4 Hulu Langat, JBPM K9 Detection Dog Unit, the Civil Defence Force (CDF) and a team of volunteers comprising local villagers and a mountain guide from the Selangor Forestry Department.

"The public who have information regarding the man's disappearance are urged to channel information to the Taman Melawati police station and anyone or parties who want to assist in the SAR are asked to report to the nearby police control post," he said.
