Penang Governor Tun Ramli Arrives For Malaysia Day 2025 Celebration In Butterworth

BUTTERWORTH, Sept 16 (Bernama) -- Penang Governor Tun Ramli Ngah Talib has arrived for the Malaysia Day 2025 celebration at the PICCA Convention Centre @ Butterworth Arena here tonight.

The Yang Dipertua Negeri and his wife, Toh Puan Raja Noora Ashikin Raja Abdullah, were received by Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, and Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.

The celebration began with the singing of ‘Negaraku’ and the Penang state anthem, ‘Untuk Negeri Kita’, after Tun Ramli, his wife, and other distinguished guests entered the convention hall.

Carrying the theme “Malaysia MADANI: Rakyat Disantuni,” the event brings together thousands of people from diverse backgrounds across the country, especially from the northern states, to celebrate cultural diversity and the spirit of unity that has long been the foundation of the nation’s strength.

Tun Ramli is scheduled to witness the symbolic ceremony of signing the Malaysia Day 2025 Commemorative Book by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, representing Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, and Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Shahelmey Yahya, representing Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

The celebration also features a 30-minute special performance combining music and dance, showcasing Malaysia’s rock queen, Ella, alongside Suki Low, Roshini Balachandran, as well as Sabah and Sarawak artistes Dabra Sia and Rezza Shah.

This year’s edition is being hosted in Penang, in line with the tradition of rotating the celebration between Sabah, Sarawak, and Peninsular Malaysia each year.
