PUTRAJAYA, Sept 11 (Bernama) -- Law enforcement authorities have been instructed to immediately carry out a thorough investigation into the attack on the Dang Wangi Police Chief ACP Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman to ensure that the mastermind and perpetrators involved are brought to justice immediately.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, in a strongly worded statement today, said that the incident of attacking and injuring a civil servant, a district police chief for that matter, was indeed a despicable, uncivilised and completely unacceptable act.
“I condemn this act in the strongest possible terms. The Federal Constitution guarantees the right to peaceful assembly and freedom of expression, but such freedoms must not be abused and must always operate within the bounds of law, societal norms, and common decency,” he said.
Sulizmie Affendy suffered a head injury, believed to have been caused by a rock thrown by an unidentified individual, while overseeing a court-ordered operation to cut electricity supply to several houses in Kampung Sungai Baru earlier today.
The operation was part of the enforcement process involving the demolition of structures in the area. Police personnel on site had instructed residents gathered at the scene to disperse, but a number of them reportedly refused to comply and continued to provoke officers, leading to heightened tensions.
Meanwhile, Saifuddin also reminded Malaysians that the country is governed by the rule of law, and every citizen must respect the legal framework to ensure peace and stability.
“Malaysia is a sovereign nation founded on the rule of law. All citizens must uphold this principle and avoid any conduct that contravenes national regulations.
“The safety and well-being of the people, as well as the integrity of our security forces, are non-negotiable priorities,” he said.
He further warned that the government will not tolerate any attempt to misuse the right to assemble for narrow political agendas, to incite unrest, or to spread hate through disinformation.
