PUTRAJAYA, Sept 4 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) has today submitted 13 proposed key initiatives to the Ministry of Finance (MOF) in preparation for Budget 2026, which Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to table on Oct 10.
One of the key initiatives submitted is under Kesejahteraan MADANI, which is an application for an allocation of RM1 billion to implement 10,000 basic public facilities projects throughout 2026, including MADANI Parks, public markets, community halls, drainage systems in residential areas and the installation of solar street lights.
Another initiative is the Rumah Kasih MADANI, namely RM200 million to repair and rebuild 10,000 dilapidated houses to help poor rural families live more comfortably and safely.
Minister of Housing and Local Government Nga Kor Ming said Budget 2026 is an important opportunity to invigorate the Malaysia MADANI agenda through the implementation of initiatives that have been identified to provide direct impact on the well-being of the people nationwide.
"We want Budget 2026 to be people-centric by strengthening public infrastructure and beautifying the surrounding areas, providing conducive business spaces for small traders and helping people to own their first home conveniently at affordable rates,” he said in a statement today.
He said all the initiatives submitted would benefit millions of Malaysians and would be fully implemented next year to ensure their effectiveness and benefits could be felt by the people as soon as possible.
Today, Nga and his deputy, Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu, met Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan at the Finance Ministry.
