KUANTAN, Sept 3 (Bernama) -- The Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Tengku Ampuan of Pahang, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, have called on Malaysians to pray for the safety and success of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) humanitarian mission to Gaza.
“May the GSF humanitarian mission to Gaza be successful,” Their Royal Highnesses said in a message shared on the Kesultanan Pahang official Facebook page tonight.
The humanitarian flotilla, comprising 24 vessels, departed the Port of Barcelona for Gaza on Sept 1, carrying more than 1,000 international participants from 44 countries - including 15 representatives from Malaysia.
It is understood that the next phase of the mission will see a second group of 15 Malaysian delegates depart from an Italian port on Sept 4, joining international participants en route to Gaza. This departure will coincide with the mobilisation of a third Malaysian group, currently stationed in Tunisia.
The GSF unites an international coalition, spanning Europe, Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East, with all participating delegations upholding the principle of non-violence, viewing the flotilla not only as a humanitarian mission, but also as a powerful symbol of global solidarity with the people of Gaza.
