HANOI, Sept 2 (Bernama-VNA) -- Hanoi, the thousand-year-old capital, turned into a sea of crowds and flags during the 80th National Day parade on Tuesday morning, Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reported.
Across the country, millions tuned in to watch the marching columns in a moment to recall sacrifices, cherish the peace of today and renew confidence in the future.
On the eve of the celebration, Hanoi was already buzzing.
Streets leading to the historic Ba Dinh Square and the parade routes were packed with residents, tourists and people from northern, central and southern provinces eager to witness the occasion.
Among them were war veterans, many of whom kept vigil through the night along the streets encircling Ba Dinh Square. For them, the day was not only a celebration but also a living testament to independence and a reminder of the value of peace.
As the official ceremony began and the national anthem was played, spectators from all generations stood tall with their eyes fixed on the national flag.
Without cue, the crowd began to sing, hands over hearts, their voices resonating in unison.
Each step of the soldiers’ march and the martial rhythms echoing through Hanoi’s streets struck a deep chord among spectators, igniting national pride.
The disciplined formations of military units crossing Ba Dinh Square not only displayed Vietnam’s military strength but also embodied its unyielding spirit.
The presence of foreign leaders and officials among the spectators underlined the message of confidence and friendship.
Eighty years have passed, but the heroic song of the Autumn of Independence still resonates, urging each generation of Vietnamese to carry forward the nation’s aspirations.
The mass participation in the parade this year reaffirmed that the strength of the nation lies in millions of hearts sharing the same vision.
