MELAKA, Sept 28 (Bernama) -- A total of 133 micro, small and medium enterprise (MSMEs) entrepreneurs in Melaka were given the opportunity in a business matching session involving 15 leading companies to market their businesses with a potential sales value of RM14.97 million.

State Entrepreneur Development, Cooperatives and Consumer Affairs Committee chairman Allex Seah Shoo Chin said the business matching session organised in conjunction with the Melaka Entrepreneur Carnival 2025 which lasted for three days starting Friday involved entrepreneurs of various types of food and beverage products who wanted to market their products to a wider market such as supermarkets and petrol stations.

He said the effort would not only increase their sales but also upgrade the business status from micro to a higher level, thus opening up more opportunities for entrepreneurs to look for better market potential including international ones in the future.

"This business matching session is carried out in collaboration with various agencies, including the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) and MARA and is organised every year to assist or pave the way for entrepreneurs to seek business opportunities with large companies.

"We estimate that about 20 per cent of the entrepreneurs involved in the business matching session will successfully enter the supermarket and petrol station market," he told reporters here today.

He said this after the closing ceremony of the International Kite Festival and Melaka Entrepreneur Carnival 2025 in conjunction with World Tourism Day (WTD) 2025 which was officiated by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.

Commenting further, Seah said that last year, 30 per cent of the 250 entrepreneurs involved in the same business matching session had successfully marketed their products in several leading supermarkets and petrol stations with a potential sales value of RM10.2 million.

Earlier, he said 50 food, beverage and various other product entrepreneurs were involved in the Melaka State Entrepreneur Carnival 2025 with a sales target of RM150,000.

"This carnival received a very good response from visitors who attended not only to enjoy the various food and beverages sold but also to watch a kite flying show by 120 kite-flyers.

"All the kite-flyers are from 10 states such as Johor and Melaka as well as 10 countries including Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand and China," he said.
