KAMPAR, Sept 25 (Bernama) -- The National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI) plays an important role in driving digital transformation by empowering rural communities through free, comprehensive training programmes in entrepreneurship and digital skills.
Rosmawati Mohd Amin, 47, a manager of a homestay in Kampar, shared how participating in the NADI Mahir training programmes in photography and agriculture (Mahir Foto and Mahir Pertanian Pintar) over the past six months has revitalised her business.
“Before this, I took photos without understanding the techniques involved. After joining the photography training, I learned about lighting, creativity, and interesting angles, which has greatly improved my shots.
“When I post these appealing photos on social media to promote my guesthouse, I received more bookings, as customers were attracted to the surrounding views,” she told Bernama when met at NADI Tualang Sekah, near Malim Nawar here.
Rosmawati added that the agriculture training opened up opportunities for her to venture into agro-tourism, with fresh herbs and vegetables now growing around the homestay, adding value to her services.
The online training, conducted via Zoom twice a week, is led by experienced trainers, ensuring a small group size of only two to three participants per session for focused attention.
Participants also receive printed modules to help in their post-training revision.
“This training is incredibly valuable and not burdensome. Most importantly, I’ve gained practical knowledge to improve my homestay business, all at no cost,” Rosmawati said.
Wahida Zainal Abidin, 48, a teacher, expressed that the training has enhanced her digital skills, which are increasingly essential in her profession.
“Teaching, like many other professions, now requires digital skills. The training I received at NADI has been a great help in my work.
“This is a personal initiative to enhance my skills,” she said, adding that age is not a barrier to mastering digital skills.
Wahida, who is also active in the Mahir Jahit programme, hopes to turn these skills into a side income in the future.
NADI goes beyond providing internet access, it serves as a hub for community development through five core components or Smart Services: Entrepreneurship, Lifelong Learning, Self-Wellness, Awareness, and Government Initiatives.
This initiative ensures that each programme effectively meets the community’s needs, creating a significant impact on improving quality of life and driving social progress,
