Nur Shafinaz Receives Special Excellence Award, Proves PTSS Graduates Can Excel On Global Stage

ARAU, Sept 23 (Bernama) – Graduates of Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Polytechnic (PTSS) here can compete at the global level, in line with the Ministry of Higher Education's (KPT) goal of strengthening Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

In a statement today, PTSS Director Ts Khairul Anuar Ishak said this capability was proven by Nur Shafinaz Mohd Noor, a 25-year-old graduate of the Diploma in Halal Food Service from the polytechnic's Department of Tourism and Hospitality. She was offered a job with the Japan Da'wah Centre in Osaka, Japan, immediately after completing her internship in halal marketing and multimedia.

As a result, PTSS celebrated Nur Shafinaz's achievement by awarding her the Special Excellence Award for her outstanding international achievement at the 17th PTSS and Arau Community College Convocation Ceremony 2025 at Dewan Harumanis, PTSS, here today.

"Immediately after completing her internship, she was offered a job and now serves as the Media, Intern & Halal Affairs Executive (Assistant). Her duties include managing the affairs of Malaysian students in Japan, producing multimedia content, and ensuring halal compliance," Khairul Anuar said in the statement.

The Special Excellence Award was presented by Khairul Anuar and witnessed by the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, along with the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, and the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, who attended the convocation ceremony.

Nur Shafinaz, when met by reporters after the convocation said she was offered the job after completing her internship with the centre from January to May.

"For three months, I did a physical internship at the Japan Da'wah Centre, and for another two months, it was online. I learned many new things there. I applied for the internship at the centre after my third sister told me about the opportunity.

"My sister knew about the Japan Da'wah Centre after she became a presenter at an international conference as a PhD student from Universiti Malaya (in September last year)," said Nur Shafinaz, the youngest of eight siblings, whose mother is a housewife and father a private bus operator.

Nur Shafinaz, who completed her diploma with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.88, said she is currently focusing on gaining extensive work experience before pursuing a bachelor's degree in the same field.

A total of 1,116 graduates were celebrated at the convocation ceremony, which runs for three days until this Thursday, involving four sessions for certificate, diploma, and foundation programmes from various fields.
