JOHOR BAHRU, Sept 21 (Bernama) -- Police arrested a local man yesterday for allegedly vandalising and cutting cables by the roadside on Jalan Sungai Tiram here.
Seri Alam acting police chief Supt G. Vikra Mathiththan @ Victor A/L Ganeson said a 33-second viral video was posted on the Community Roda Johor - CRJ Facebook page showing someone cutting cables by the roadside.
He said police received a report of the incident, adding that investigations revealed it occurred on Sept 20 at 3 am.
“We apprehended a 34-year-old suspect on the same day,” he said in a statement today, adding that the alleged cable thief has four previous criminal and drug-related offences and tested positive for methamphetamine.
The case is being investigated under Section 431A of the Penal Code and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
