KUANTAN, Sept 15 (Bernama) -- The search and rescue operation for an excavator driver believed buried in a rockfall at a quarry in Ulu Gali, Sungai Ruan, Raub, was suspended at 7 pm today.
Pahang Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant director of operations and rescue Mohd Salahuddin Isa said the operation to locate Mohammad Fazrul Illahi Ab Rahman, 30, will resume at 8 am tomorrow.
“Rescuers have so far cleared about 15 metric tonnes of rocks, but the victim has yet to be found,” he said when contacted.
He said two sniffer dogs from JBPM and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) were deployed, with more than 60 personnel from JBPM, PDRM and the Civil Defence Force involved in the operation.
In the 12.50 pm incident last Saturday, Mohammad Fazrul was operating an excavator when he was struck by falling rocks from a nearby hillside.
Three other foreign workers escaped with minor injuries.
