ISKANDAR PUTERI, Sept 13 (Bernama) -- A total of eight key resolutions will be reviewed for implementation to further strengthen the role of religious agencies in the governance and delivery of Islamic affairs services.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar said the resolutions were the outcome of the 3rd Islamic Affairs Management Convention held recently.
He said one of the resolutions is to enhance governance, such as optimising the function of the Islamic Development Department Malaysia as an Industry Lead Body (ILB).
“Other resolutions include strengthening strategic cooperation and collaboration between the public, private, and community sectors in an integrated and effective effort to reform and empower the ummah, beginning from early childhood.
“Also, to sustain the transformation of Islamic affairs services to ensure they remain relevant and responsive to current challenges through quality research, inclusive policy development, and significant impact-driven initiatives supported by adequate funding,” he said.
Mohd Na’im said this in his speech at the closing of the Ijtimak Perdana Agensi Agama Seluruh Malaysia (IJPAM) programme by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today.
He said the resolutions also included developing comprehensive competencies through cross-placement of expertise between local and international religious agencies, which has been recognised as a best practice in organisational governance.
He said the restructuring of Islamic affairs agencies also involves increasing the number of religious attache positions abroad, as well as roles in federal or state statutory bodies and government-linked companies (GLCs).
“We will also look into improving the infrastructure and maintenance of religious institutions to meet the demands of excellent service delivery, as well as train and prepare young scholars through high-impact, strategic programmes and training to ensure effective da’wah delivery to the ummah,” he said.
Mohd Na’im also emphasised that information and data networks will be strengthened through integrated digital transformation between religious agencies and other related bodies to ensure more efficient, accurate, and timely data accessibility.
The 3rd Islamic Affairs Management Convention is among the contents of the six-day 2025 IJPAM held in Johor over six days beginning Sept 8. The event gathered 20 religious agencies and 2,400 participants.
Among the programmes held in conjunction with IJPAM 2025 were the Regional Halal Seminar, the Halal Services and Industry Exhibition in conjunction with the Regional Halal Seminar, the Semarak Subuh and Fun Run Programme and various sports competitions.
