KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 9 (Bernama) -- The Global Governance Initiative proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping provides a multilateral system in which countries big and small are treated as equals and with respect, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
In an interview with CGTN anchor Zheng Junfeng, Anwar said there is a human element and correct values in the initiative.
“Not many leaders in the world would be talking about civilisation, respect, and shared prosperity,” he said during the interview held on the sidelines of his working visit to China last week.
“So we have the ASEAN initiative, the Chinese initiative, and we have the BRICS and also the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO),” he added.
These initiatives, the prime minister said, can mitigate and redeem some of the contentious issues, not only those affecting global politics but also in terms of protecting the economic interests of countries.
During the four-day visit, Anwar also participated and delivered a remarks at the SCO Plus Summit in Tianjin, where he called for strengthening and restoring of trust in the multilateralism system.
