SEREMBAN, Sept 9 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) is continuing the expansion of the Programme Menu RAHMAH@Hospital at Hospital Tuanku Ja'afar Seremban (HTJS), with food prices starting as low as RM5.
Its deputy minister, Datuk Dr. Fuziah Salleh, said this initiative provides an opportunity for the B40 group, students, senior citizens, and workers to enjoy balanced and healthy meals at reasonable prices.
She said HTJS, as the main referral hospital in the state with 23 clinical specialities, accommodates an average of 5,023 patient admissions and 32,665 outpatients each month.
“With this capacity, the government believes that the Menu RAHMAH@Hospital will greatly benefit not only patients but also visitors and healthcare workers.
"The launch of the Menu RAHMAH@Hospital is not just an effort to reduce the cost of living, but it is the government's commitment to ensure that every patient, visitor, and hospital staff member can access quality, healthy and affordable food," she said.
She said this to reporters after officiating the launch of the Programme Menu RAHMAH@Hospital at HTJS today.
Fuziah said this effort can be achieved through cooperation between ministries and agencies, as well as the support of small and medium entrepreneurs who are an important pillar of the local food ecosystem.
She is also confident that the Menu Rahmah will be a popular choice after the highly successful MADANI Rahmah Sales.
"KPDN calls for more hospitals across the country to participate in this programme, including private hospitals," she said.
Meanwhile, Fuziah said that more than 3,106 food premises nationwide have participated in Menu Rahmah through the MADANI government's Rahmah programme from January 2023 until Sept 1.
Fuziah also said that although the programme started two years ago, there are still people who are unaware of the existence of this Menu Rahmah.
“This initiative has been around for a long time, and some might consider it commonplace. After we conducted a review of this programme, we found that many people actually want it and appreciate it very much,” she added.
Besides hospitals, KPDN is also expanding this initiative through the Menu RAHMAH@Bazar Ramadan, Menu RAHMAH@Industri, Menu RAHMAH@Institusi Pendidikan, as well as continuous advocacy through KPDN Carnivals and the Programme MADANI Rakyat.
