BUKIT MERTAJAM, Sept 8 (Bernama) -- The Department of Polytechnic Education and Community Colleges (JPPKK) will assist the family of Politeknik Sultan Abdul Halim (Polimas) student Muhamad Amsyar Muqri Mohd Asri, 18, who died after a rice harvester he rode with three friends plunged into a river at Kampung Sanglang, near Jitra, on Saturday.
Its deputy director-general (Planning), Dr Shamsuri Abdullah, said the family will receive financial aid as well as psychological and moral support.
“I was informed that Polimas has already contacted the victim’s family to offer assistance.
“…during such tragedies, we stand with the family to provide moral and psychological support, along with any other assistance we can offer,” he told reporters after officiating the 24th Politeknik Seberang Perai (PSP) Convocation, which PSP director Mohd Ruzi Hamzah also attended.
The body of Muhamad Amsyar Muqri was found at 10.01 am yesterday at a depth of four metres, about 10 metres from where he was first reported to have fallen into the river. His three friends escaped unharmed.
