Jasmine Food's Interactive Mural Brings New Life To KL's Jalan Kamunting

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 7 (Bernama) -- Jasmine Food Corporation Sdn Bhd, together with Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), has launched an interactive mural themed "Nasi Warisan Kita" (Our Rice Heritage) at Jalan Kamunting here to elevate the area as one of the city’s tourist attractions.

The 650-square-foot mural, created by three local artists in the span of a week, also adds vibrancy to this year’s National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations.

Jasmine Food Corporation’s Head of Branding and Product Development, Farhan Hafetz said visitors can scan a quick response (QR) code on the mural to view its animated features using artificial intelligence (AI) and augmented reality (AR).

“Jalan Kamunting actually has many eateries that are somewhat hidden. So, we want people to know that Kuala Lumpur has this beautiful area with delicious food. We want this mural to become an icon here,” he said at the launch ceremony today.

Also present were Jasmine Food Corporation Chief Operating Officer Alan Kwong and Jasmine Food ambassador, veteran actor Datuk Jalaluddin Hassan.

Farhan said the launch of the mural was also held in conjunction with today’s Kuala Lumpur Car Free Morning (KL Car Free Morning), during which 1,000 packs of nasi lemak were distributed to visitors, symbolising the iconic dish that reflects Malaysia’s multicultural identity.

“One of our collaborations with DBKL is to further promote KL Car Free Morning. With the mural here, we will organise more activities such as CSR initiatives to attract more visitors,” he said.

A Bernama survey at the site this morning found the launch was celebrated enthusiastically by KL Car Free Morning participants, who were jogging and cycling as early as 7 am to enjoy the free nasi lemak and take photos with the interactive mural.

Meanwhile, Jalaluddin, who attended to promote the launch, said the mural depicting people of diverse races and cultures enjoying rice-based dishes helps foster unity among Malaysia’s multiracial society.

“This is something that automatically triggers our minds—that this is the kind of atmosphere we want, this is the kind of view we want. Indirectly, it builds our spirit and educates our children and grandchildren that this is our country, where we live in peace and harmony,” he said.

The public who attended this morning were also invited to join the “Snap & Win” contest, running until December, which requires them to capture the most creative photo at the Jasmine Food mural and share it with the hashtag #NasiWarisanKita on Facebook or Instagram.
