Police Searching For RMAF Airman Reported Missing After River Outing

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 1 (Bernama) -- Police are searching for a Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) personnel reported missing after swimming in Sungai Kedondong, Batang Kali, on Aug 23. 

Serdang police chief ACP Muhamad Farid Ahmad said the missing airman, Muhammad Ammar Mohd Ariffin, 27, is based at the Subang Air Base and currently attending a vehicle transport supervisor course at the Air Force Institute of Supply Management Training (INSMAT), Bandar Kinrara.

“Muhammad Ammar was last seen around 4.30 pm on Aug 23 while swimming with three fellow RMAF personnel, before later being spotted alone. On Aug 24, around 6 pm, his roommate tried to contact him but found his mobile phone switched off.

“RMAF personnel from INSMAT lodged a police report at 4.16 pm on Aug 25 after he failed to return to the institute,” he said in a statement today.

Muhamad Farid said the missing man is fair-skinned, with straight short hair and about 175 centimetres tall.

He appealed to anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact the nearest police station or investigating officer, Insp Mohd Sukri Che Mat at 03-80762222/03-80713136.
