Floods: Number Of Evacuees In Sabah Rises To 391

KOTA KINABALU, Sept 13 (Bernama) -- The number of flood evacuees in Sabah rose to 391 people from 126 families this evening, up from 378 people from 117 families reported earlier today, according to the Sabah State Disaster Management Committee.

In a statement, it said the increase was recorded in Penampang, which now shelters 244 evacuees from 76 families, while in Beaufort, the number dropped to 147 people from 50 families.

In Penampang, evacuees are housed at three temporary relief centres (PPS), namely Penampang Sports Complex (39 people, nine families), Dewan Huguan Siau (146 people, 48 families) and Sekolah Kebangsaan St Paul Kolopis (59 people, 19 families).

All evacuees in Beaufort have been relocated to the permanent relief centre (PPK) in Selagon.

A total of 22 villages have been affected by the floods, with 14 in Penampang and eight in Beaufort, the statement added.
