Floods: Fewer Evacuees In Sabah

KOTA KINABALU, Sept 13 (Bernama) -- The number of flood victims in Sabah dropped slightly to 378 people from 117 families this morning, compared to 398 people from 126 families last night.

The State Disaster Management Committee said in a statement that 224 victims from 64 families were evacuated in Penampang, and 154 victims from 53 families in Beaufort.

In Penampang, the temporary relief centre at the Penampang Sports Complex houses 39 victims from nine families; Huguan Siau Hall (142 victims, 45 families); and Sekolah Kebangsaan St Paul Kolopis (43 victims, 10 families).

Meanwhile, all the flood victims in Beaufort have been moved to the permanent relief centre in Selagon.

"A total of 22 villages are affected by the floods, with 14 in Penampang and eight in Beaufort,” it added.
