Tang Jie-Ee Wei To Remain Focused And Not Be Swayed By Rewards, Incentives

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 11 (Bernama) -- The national mixed doubles pair, Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei, stressed that they will not be swayed by the various rewards they have received after becoming world champions recently.

According to Tang Jie, as badminton players, their priority is to continue performing excellently on the court and bring glory to Malaysia on the international stage, not to chase incentives alone.

"For us, nothing is changed because right now we are still badminton players. Either in the past or future, our goal is to achieve more for our country and also for ourselves," he said when met by the media at an incentive presentation ceremony by the electronics company Senheng Malaysia at the Badminton Academy of Malaysia (ABM) today.

At the ceremony, the pair received a total incentive of RM125,000 from the company, where Tang Jie received RM100,000 in cash while Ee Wei took home electronic products worth RM25,000.

Tang Jie received the generous reward as the player was a recipient of the SS Junior Badminton Talent Scholarship Programme organised by Senheng and Samsung in 2012.

For the record, both players have received over RM100,000 each in various rewards since winning the World Championships last month.
