SHAH ALAM, Sept 5 (Bernama) -- Selangor Youth, Sports and Entrepreneurship Committee chairman Mohd Najwan Halimi set a Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) entry by reciting the Rukun Negara at the summit of Mount Kinabalu yesterday.
He led 38 climbers in a Kinabalu Expedition organised by the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA), which was recognised as the recital of the Rukun Negara at the highest altitude, 4,095 metres above sea level.
Mohd Najwan said the expedition was not only held in conjunction with the MBSA's 25th Silver Jubilee but was also symbolic of Malaysia’s 68th National Day celebration.
"Starting on Wednesday, the expedition was full of challenges, including participants forced to climb a slippery trail due to rain, beginning from Timpohon Gate at 10 am, before continuing the climb to Panalaban and arriving at 5 pm the same day.
"At about 3 am the next day, we resumed the climb to the summit and concluded the mission with pride at 9 am by reciting the Rukun Negara on Malaysia's highest peak," he said in a statement here today.
He said they also took the opportunity to raise the Tourism Selangor flag in conjunction with Visit Selangor Year 2025.
The MBSA Kinabalu Expedition, from Sept 2 to 6, involves 32 MBSA staff, four from Tourism Selangor and two from Selangor FM.
