BANTING, Aug 31 (Bernama) -- A total of 68 motorcyclists from the Semarak Merdeka TEKUN convoy completed their nationwide tour late last night when they safely arrived at Dataran Pantai Morib here, in conjunction with the TEKUN MADANI Kuala Langat Carnival.
National Entrepreneur Group Economic Fund (TEKUN) Nasional chairman Datuk Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid said the convoy, comprising TEKUN Nasional officers and entrepreneurs, had set off on their journey across Malaysian states on Aug 10, beginning in Sabah.
“This convoy is symbolic of commemorating and celebrating the nation’s 68th National Day, while also engaging with communities and TEKUN staff across the country, especially those in need of assistance.
“It is one of the Merdeka programmes that combines patriotic spirit with welfare initiatives and community unity,” he told Bernama here yesterday.
Earlier, Abdullah Sani officiated the launch of the TEKUN MADANI Kuala Langat Carnival and welcomed the arrival of the 68 convoy participants as one of the highlights of the Merdeka concert, which began at 8 pm.
The concert held at Dataran Pantai Morib featured performances from renowned Malaysian artists, including Malaysian queen of rock Ella, Ukays Reborn and the TEKUN Nasional band, before culminating in a Merdeka celebration gimmick.
At the same time, Abdullah Sani revealed that sales by TEKUN entrepreneurs reached RM1.85 million over the two-day TEKUN MADANI Kuala Langat Carnival from Aug 29, via booths (RM50,300) and TEKUN entrepreneurs under TikTok Shop (RM1.8 million).
He said for the past 27 years, TEKUN Nasional has disbursed RM10.5 billion to 602,059 entrepreneurs nationwide, including RM1.4 billion to 81,038 entrepreneurs in Selangor.
“For 2025 (as of July), TEKUN Nasional has already channelled RM583 million to 22,392 entrepreneurs nationwide, including RM66 million in financing to 2,684 entrepreneurs in Selangor.
“Notably, RM4.9 billion of the overall sum has been channelled to 474,314 women entrepreneurs, reflecting our strong support for women in business,” he said.
