KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 30 (Bernama) -- The RiUH Merdeka programme that began at noon today is the perfect place for Malaysians to celebrate National Day 2025 in a relaxed manner with their families.

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said that response by visitors to the 30-hour-long non-stop programme was very encouraging after he checked out the programme located at the parking lot of the Millennium Monument, about a kilometre from the location of the National Day Parade at Dataran Putrajaya.

"I hope they can enjoy themselves with their families in a peaceful, relaxed, chilled environment by the lake and have a different experience as we celebrate National Day,” he told reporters after his visit.

Fahmi, who is also National Day and Malaysia Day 2025 Celebrations main committee chairman, is expecting even more visitors in the run up to the Merdeka Countdown, which will feature free live performances by local artistes.

"We will also have fireworks, a lot of types of food as I can see, from Sarawak, from Negeri Sembilan, all sorts. Various vendors with various dishes and performances. So I feel this Riuh Merdeka programme really lives up to its name,” he said.

The Communications Ministry through MyCreative Ventures (MyCreative) is organising RiUH Merdeka  in conjunction with the National Day 2025 celebrations, a 30-hour long, nonstop festival that began at noon today till 6 pm tomorrow, featuring interesting events.

RiUH promotions and marketing manager Mohammed Falliq Mohammed Effendy bsaid the programme, which is being held for the first time in Putrajaya, will add to the festivities.

Besides stalls featuring food, drinks and lifestyle products, visitors can sign up for art workshops, watch free movie screenings and enjoy various activities as they wait for tomorrow’s parade.

“We hope people show up earlier to avoid traffic and make full use of the rest facilities at the event site,” he said.

The programme, a National Day 2025 side event, aims to instill patriotism and love for the country through arts, culture and creativity.

It also serves as a platform for creative industry players and local entrepreneurs to show their talents, explore business opportunities and foster community ties.

Over 25,000 visitors are expected at the programme, with live music performances from local artistes like Yuna, Misha Omar, Pop Shuvit, Alif Satar and The Locos, IamNeeta and Datuk Zainal Abidin.
