JAKARTA, Aug 29 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Embassy in Jakarta is closely monitoring the latest developments following a series of demonstrations that began on Monday in the Senayan, Central Jakarta area.

In a statement, the embassy said the demonstrations have affected traffic flow following the closure of a number of locations in particular in South and Central Jakarta.

The embassy therefore urges Malaysians citizens residing in Jakarta and those visiting for pleasure, business and other purposes to constantly monitor the latest update regarding protest sites from local authorities and media.

“Malaysians are also advised to avoid demonstration areas and not to engage in any actions that could violate local regulations,” the statement from the embassy read.

For consular assistance, Malaysian citizens may contact the embassy at +62813 8081 3036.
