KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 29 (Bernama) -- Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the opening of Section One of the East Klang Valley Expressway (EKVE) today is considered highly significant in strengthening the road network system around the Klang Valley.
He said the EKVE is one of the country's major infrastructure projects, forming part of the Kuala Lumpur Outer Ring Road (KLORR) system in the east.
"The EKVE is designed as an alternative route that can connect major suburban areas such as Sungai Long, Bandar Mahkota Cheras, Hulu Langat and Ampang without having to enter the city centre, which is often severely congested," he said.
Nanta said this when speaking at the opening ceremony of the EKVE Section One at the Ampang toll plaza here. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim officiated the opening ceremony.
Also present were Selangor Chief Minister Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari and Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar.
Nanta said the 24-kilometre EKVE Section One has four elevated interchanges at Sungai Long, Bandar Mahkota Cheras, Hulu Langat and Ampang.
Section One covers 16.8 km of the main alignment and 8.4 km of slip roads, while Section Two, which will connect this route directly to Ukay Perdana, is currently being actively implemented.
"When it opens, it will complete the entire 39-km EKVE alignment as planned in the original development plan," he said.
Regarding the MyJalan application, Nanta said it has received 40,938 complaints since being launched by the Prime Minister in August 2023.
"Of that number, 12,459 complaints involved JKR (Public Works Department) and the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) with a high resolution rate of 95.19 per cent, while 28,479 complaints were categorised under the 'No Wrong Door’ policy involving state roads, village roads, urban roads and private roads," he added.
