KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 26 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) will continue to play a key role in strengthening the narrative of unity and boosting the spirit of National Day through content featured across all social media platforms.
Bernama chief executive officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin said that as an agency under the Communications Ministry, Bernama remains committed to upholding the national agenda by showcasing reports and programmes related to unity and nationhood.
"I believe that when we uphold narratives that champion or ignite the spirit of unity among us, that spirit will directly be ingrained in us.
"This is what I witnessed today because the participation of Bernama staff in the National Day celebration is extremely encouraging,” she said at the Bernama-level 2025 National Day celebration at Wisma Bernama here today.
Also present were Bernama editor-in-chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj and the news agency's top management.
Speaking about today's celebration, Nur-ul Afida said the staff's high level of patriotism reflected the spirit of love for the country through creativity and close cooperation to make the independence-themed performances and competitions a success.
"It's not easy to gather so many people like this, more so in conjunction with the National Month. I am thrilled with the high level of patriotism shown by all the staff members. This reminds us to always love our country, appreciate the independence which we achieved 68 years ago,” she said.
In addition, Nur-ul Afida also called on the younger generation to continue to appreciate the meaning of independence with pride.
"More importantly, we know that we are Malaysians and must respect the Jalur Gemilang. Take care of our flag and together let's celebrate the National Day on Sunday,” she said.
The CEO Office Team won the best performance award in the Inter-Department Merdeka Stage Competition, taking home RM1,000 in cash; followed by the Editorial Department (RM800) and the Management Services and Finance Department.
