KANGAR, Aug 26 (Bernama) -- The General Operations Force (GOF) seized compressed blocks, believed to be ganja, weighing 10 kilogrammes (kg) and estimated worth RM300,000, in Padang Besar yesterday.
Its Northern Brigade Commander, SAC Shahrum Hashim, said the seizure was made during an intelligence monitoring patrol under “Op Taring Wawasan Kedah/Perlis” in Kaki Bukit heading towards Wang Kelian, Padang Besar, at about 12.45 am.
"The team spotted a suspicious black Toyota Vios car on the road shoulder, and when approached, it sped away towards Kaki Bukit. A search in the bushes in the area found a white sack containing 10 compressed blocks suspected to be ganja," he said in a statement today.
Shahrum said the seizures were handed over to the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division of the Padang Besar District Police Headquarters (IPD), and the case is being investigated under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
